Answer
Wegovy cost with insurance and self-pay
The short answer
Wegovy’s cost depends on coverage, formulation and offer eligibility. Current manufacturer pen offers differ from commercial copay savings, and an introductory fill is not the ongoing price. Confirm the exact route before comparing totals.
Choose the product and payment route first
A Wegovy pen, Wegovy HD pen and Wegovy tablet are not one price quote. Write down the prescribed product and whether the pharmacy is billing insurance, a manufacturer self-pay offer or another cash arrangement.
Then separate the medication charge from any clinician or telehealth membership fee. A manufacturer pharmacy price does not establish the cost of a separate prescribing service. Comparing only the first visible number can miss both later fills and ongoing service charges.
Current manufacturer pen self-pay terms
As read October 14, Novo Nordisk lists a $199 introductory offer for eligible new patients at the 0.25 mg and 0.5 mg pen strengths for up to two monthly fills through December 31, 2026. Continuing pen fills at the listed standard strengths are $349; the HD 7.2 mg pen is $399.
These are eligibility-dependent offers that the manufacturer can change. The ordinary pen month is a box of four pens, representing 28 days under the terms. Do not treat a 28-day medication supply as a guaranteed calendar-month billing schedule for another service.
Commercial insurance: savings are capped
The current commercial offer advertises a payment as low as $25 but limits savings to $100 per one-month prescription. That limit matters: a large insurance cost-sharing amount is not necessarily reduced to the headline minimum.
The detailed terms require covered commercial insurance and exclude government prescription programs and certain accumulator or maximizer arrangements. Ask the plan for the actual claim cost, then check the manufacturer’s terms. The offer is not an insurance benefit and cannot make an excluded claim covered. Its government-program definition has exceptions: FEHB, Marketplace and state-employee insurance are not automatically classified as excluded government programs under these terms.
Medicare uses a different eligibility route
Medicare’s GLP-1 Bridge describes a $50 one-month copayment for qualifying Part D beneficiaries who meet its requirements and are not already receiving the medication through Part D coverage. Do not combine that program with a commercial manufacturer coupon.
If your plan already covers the prescription for a qualifying indication, examine the Part D cost-sharing and exception routes instead. The Medicare Prescription Payment Plan changes payment timing for covered Part D expenses; it does not establish a Bridge benefit or reduce the drug price.
Compare more than the introductory purchase
Write a comparison with the first eligible fill, continuing fills, the actual supply period and any prescribing-service fees. Keep insurance-covered costs separate from cash purchases and ask whether either receives deductible credit.
For tablets, use the separate pill pricing guide and exact prescribed strength. The lowest tablet headline is not a substitute for the pen price or the later tablet strength. Before acting, reopen the linked current terms and confirm eligibility with the pharmacist or program.

American GLP is not a law firm, an insurer, a government office or a clinician, and nothing here is legal or medical advice. This page describes what published rules say. Your own plan documents and your own notice govern your case, and rules change — check the sources before you act.
