Carrier
Regence
Covers Wegovy, Zepbound, Foundayo and Saxenda only where your contract covers weight loss, then asks for 5% loss to renew.
Regence puts the benefit question in plain words in its GLP-1 policy, effective August 15, 2026: coverage for weight loss is defined by your contract. If your contract excludes it, no clinical criteria can get you approved.
Where the contract does cover weight loss, the medical test is simple by insurer standards: a BMI of 30, or 27 with a weight-related condition, and a statement that you'll use the drug with lifestyle changes. There's no required step through older drugs.
Foundayo joined the policy on July 9, 2026. To keep any of these drugs, you need to have lost at least 5% of your starting weight, unless your dose is still being raised.
Can Zepbound be covered for sleep apnea?
Only if your contract allows weight-loss drugs. The policy ties Zepbound's sleep apnea route to that same benefit language, so it doesn't get around a weight-loss exclusion.
What does Regence check every year?
Approvals are reviewed at least once a year, and part of that review is rereading your contract to confirm the benefit is still there.
Every claim above, with the document behind it
These are the policies we opened and the month we opened them. Each one carries its own policy number and effective date on its face, and those are printed here as the document shows them.

What these documents cannot tell you
Everything above is what Regence publishes. None of it establishes what your own plan does, and the gap between those two things is wider than a carrier policy makes it look.
- This policy doesn't say which Regence plans include the weight-loss benefit. Your contract does.
- We read the medication policy, not a Regence formulary, so tiers and costs aren't here.
- Regence's Medicare Advantage plans follow Medicare rules instead.
- None of this is legal or medical advice. Your plan documents and your notice govern your case.

American GLP is not a law firm, an insurer, a government office or a clinician, and nothing here is legal or medical advice. This page describes what Regence publishes. It is not affiliated with Regence BlueShield, Regence BlueCross BlueShield of Oregon, of Utah, and Regence BlueShield of Idaho, and your own plan documents and your own notice govern your case.
